Any person may file a complaint with the Commission on Ethics regarding a violation of the code of ethics, lobbyist registration or post-employment ordinances.  Complaints must be in writing and executed on the form provided below, allege a violation of the ordinances mentioned above, be based substantially upon personal knowledge and be signed under oath or affirmation by the complaining person.  The commission keeps a library of published public reports and final orders regarding the disposition of all filed complaints.

Anonymous Complaints and Whistleblower Protection
Both the Inspector General and the staff of the Commission on Ethics are considered “an appropriate local official” for the purposes of whistleblower protection provided by state law.  Employees (present and former), applicants and contract employees who report violations of law which create a substantial or specific danger to the public’s health, safety, or welfare or gross waste, fraud or abuse may be designated for whistleblower protection.  The complaint form and how to request whistleblower protection can be found on the Inspector General website at: pbcgov.com/OIG
