BCC BriefsAt the June 7, 2011, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action: Surplus vehicles – declined to sell two surplus pickup trucks at below fair market value to the Suwannee Water and Sewer District. Instead, staff was directed to sell the vehicles at the fair market price of $9,875 for the pair or place them for public auction. Guard dogs – adopted a resolution approving a series of new and revised fees and fines pertaining to guard dog owners and guard dog companies. Fire Rescue – approved an interlocal agreement with the city of Belle Glade accepting the donation of a .82-acre parcel adjacent to County Fire-Rescue Station 73 along with an access easement. The county will pay the city approximately $143 for its portion of the 2011 non-ad valorem tax. Nightclubs – approved on preliminary reading and to advertise for public hearing on June 21 amendments to the county’s nightclub ordinance that requires all nightclub security officers to be licensed by the state as “Class D” officers, and eliminates the special restaurant exemption. Roads - approved on preliminary reading and to advertise for public hearing on June 21 amendments to the county’s five-year road program. KidSanctuary – approved a modification of deed restrictions for a 5.57-acre parcel south of Pioneer Road and west of the turnpike granting KidSantuary Campus, Inc. a 15-year extension to construct its facility in five phases. Legislative Affairs – received a final report from county lobbyists on the 2011 Legislative Session reviewing the county’s legislative agenda priorities and appropriations Community Services – received a presentation on the “Report of Health and Human Services in Palm Beach County – Based on Key Community Indicators 2010.” Pal Mar – authorized Commissioner Marcus to vote on behalf of Palm Beach County at the annual landowners meetings of the Pal Mar Water Control District.
