At the October 19, 2010, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

Wage Theft – directed legal staff to draft an ordinance that would empower the county to investigate employers for unlawful nonpayment or under payment of workers’ wages. Commissioners agreed to revisit the issue in February.

Transit Village – agreed to begin negotiating with Transit Village LLC for development of the county-owned, 6-acre “wedge” property next to the West Palm Beach Tri-Rail station.

Roads – adopted an ordinance amending the county’s five-year road program.

WXEL - agreed to send a letter to the State Board of Education expressing concern over the proposed sale radio station WXEL owned by Barry University.

Ethics – approved interlocal agreements with Lantana and Boynton Beach to extend the jurisdiction and authority of the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics and its executive director to those municipal governments.

Bed Tax – amended the Tourist Development Ordinance to allow bed tax revenue to be used for debt service payments for the planning, design and construction of Roger Dean Stadium and the County Convention Center, and for Convention Center operations.

Tourist Development Council - approved a lease agreement with the Regions Financial Tower, extending the term of the lease of office space for the Tourist Development Council for three years. The extension provides more time to relocate the TDC into county-owned space.

Veterinary Clinics – approved on preliminary reading and to advertise for public hearing on October 28an amendment to the ULDC Planned Development District Use Matrix to allow a veterinary clinic with no outdoor runs and less than 3,000 square feet of floor space to be a permitted use.
