At the December 18, 2007 Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action:

Fire-Rescue – failed to adopt an ordinance amending the boundaries of the Fire-Rescue MSTU to include the City of Lake Worth; approved the purchase of a three-acre parcel from the City of South Bay for $60,000 for a new fire station; received and filed a compliance report on the Fire-Rescue level of service standard from the Level of Service Committee.

Palm Beach Yacht Center – directed staff to negotiate an agreement with WMJB Marine, Inc., owners of the Palm Beach Yacht Center in Hypoluxo, for the development rights on the marina’s remaining 1.5 acres of waterfront property. The marina is offering the additional rights at no cost in hopes of resolving a dispute over the receipt of $14 million in County bond funds to keep the marina open and accessible to the public.

Public Art – postponed to the Jan. 15, 2008 meeting an agreement for art services with Barbara Grygutis Sculpture, LLC for creation, fabrication and installation of an outdoor signature art project named “The Wave” at the County Convention Center.

Lantana Farm Associates – postponed to the Jan. 15, 2008 meeting a settlement agreement that would re-designate 26 acres of land west of State Road 7 from rural-residential to low-residential, include the property within the urban/suburban service boundary, and increase the density to 26 residential units.

Lion Country Safari – extended for one year a contract in the amount of $16,500 to operate and maintain a wastewater treatment facility at Lion Country Safari.

Greenacres Annexation – approved the annexation of 17 unincorporated enclaves by the City of Greenacres and conveyed ownership and maintenance of Fleming and Jennings avenues north of 10th Avenue North to the city.

Gardiner Lane – approved a deed to transfer ownership of a County-owned easement known as Gardiner Lane to the property owners association.

Golf – agreed not to take over operation and maintenance of the municipal golf course in Belle Glade.

Staff Appointments – ratified the promotion of Budget Director Liz Bloeser to director of Financial Management and Budget, replacing Richard Roberts, who is retiring; confirmed the transfer of duties of the director of Public Safety to Assistant County Administrator Vince Bonvento, replacing Paul Milelli, who also is retiring.
